Through the HUKU Project, we introduce Japanese home cooking and Western-influenced cuisine to global audiences. We also host events that combine film screenings with tasting sessions, offering experiences such as sampling Japanese products and sake.

Sharing Stories with the World through Film at theater and SVOD
This photo shows the Toyo Kinema (東洋キネマ), a Dadaist-style theater that stood in Tokyo for more than 70 years. It was designed by my children’s great-grandfather, Kenji Kominato, who also appears to have headed a company specializing in lens manufacturing. In addition, he designed Fuyokan (芙蓉館)—a cinema and entertainment venue in Tokyo’s Nezu district, which in 1941 was known as the Nezu Toho Eiga Gekijo (“Nezu Toho Movie Theater”). Opened under the name “Fuyokan,” it later underwent name changes during the wartime period, serving as a cultural hub that supported the region’s filmgoing community.
My father had a deep passion for 8mm film and cameras. On weekends, he would host screenings at our home in Suginami, showcasing the 8mm footage he had shot. My father-in-law, a cinematographer, traveled the world for his work.
One of the reasons I founded Filmination was to create a marketplace where existing films could be monetized and introduced to new audiences. Looking back, I realize that this family history—rooted in creativity, visual art, and global perspectives—naturally guided me toward the world of cinema.

In 2019, driven by a desire to elevate Japanese cinema, I joined former Microsoft colleagues to establish FILMINATION Co., Ltd. Our mission is to share the distinctive spirit of Japanese films with the world and to serve as a bridge between Japan and the global community.
Bringing the Essence of Japanese Cuisine to the World
Through our global screenings of Japanese films, we often hear audiences say, “I wish I could taste the dishes I saw on screen.”
The HUKU Project answers that call—sharing everything from nourishing, grandma-taught home cooking to Japan’s unique “Western-inspired” comfort foods like tonkatsu, curry rice, and korokke, born in the Taishō era.
Our mission is to bring authentic flavors and timeless culinary wisdom from Japan to the world—starting with North America. Together with our partners, we’ll create experiences where people can watch the film, taste the dish, and even cook it themselves—wherever they are.
20 Years of Connections in North America
After transferring to an IT company headquartered in Washington State, I relocated to North America—and it’s hard to believe that nearly twenty years have already passed. I’m profoundly grateful for the countless meaningful connections and inspiring encounters this region has given me. Among the most memorable are the owners whose uniquely crafted products each carry a powerful story. My vision is to share those remarkable items—and the narratives behind them—with the world. Cherishing the deep relationships I’ve built here, I will continue bringing heartfelt products and their stories from North America to the global stage.
Realestate investment and Airbnb
For three generations, our family has contributed to the community by leasing buildings in ways that meet the needs of each era. EN Pacific Services Co., Ltd. now owns properties throughout Japan. As more foreign nationals and immigrants settle here, demand for quality housing has grown markedly.
In 2023 we successfully entered the North American market with an Airbnb portfolio that has welcomed travelers from around the world. Our goal is to offer comfortable, well-managed stays for a broad range of guests—whether they are tourists, business travelers, or new residents—while honoring the legacy of service begun by my grandfather.
